Overview of the clinical department

The Rheumatology Department focuses on autoimmune diseases (i.e., diseases in which the host attacks its own body). Among these diseases, rheumatoid arthritis is the most common disease. We provide cutting-edge diagnoses and treatments for a variety of connective tissue diseases as a core rheumatology and connective tissue disease hospital in the Kita-Harima area.
When receiving a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis or connective tissue disease, it is difficult for patients to understand. However, those who experience morning stiffness, prolonged low-grade fever, joint swelling, pain, or hand pallor should feel welcome to visit our department.
*Because our medical center is associated with the Department of Rheumatology of Kobe University Hospital, there is a collaboration between the hospital and our medical center.

Results, diagnostic methods, and treatment methods

Because connective tissue diseases are systemic diseases, we strive to provide comprehensive medical care.
Within this scope, we particularly focus on examination by ultrasound for rheumatoid arthritis and have equipped an outpatient examination room with an ultrasonic inspection system for real-time diagnosis, assessment of disease activity, and assessment of therapeutic effects. Musculoskelethal ultrasonography can detect subtle inflammation that cannot be solely detected by palpation, and the treatment is correspondingly adjusted to prevent joint destruction.

Rheumatology care nurse

Registered rheumatology care nurses are stationed at our medical center, and information, including guidance on self-injections, is provided to patients.
Nursing specialists in rheumatology care work to reduce anxiety and ensure long-term, effective treatment.
We are the closest supporters of patients, and at Kita-Harima Medical Center, we value the relationship that allows patients to freely communicate any concerns they may have.
